Roboto

Type Poster

This assignment focused on creating a poster inspired by the characteristics and usage of the Roboto typeface. The goal was to highlight its fresh, bold, and digital-friendly qualities while integrating a modern, vibrant aesthetic.

So I tried to draw inspiration from Indian pop-rock artist King, who embodies the energy of a “new age rockstar,”

The final design showcases a harmonious blend of typography and contemporary culture, demonstrating the versatility of Roboto in modern design applications.

Roboto is a popular and versatile sans-serif typeface designed by Christian Robertson. It was initially developed by Google as part of the Android operating system and released in 2011.
Roboto is known for its neutrality and readability. It’s a versatile and adaptable typeface that works well in a wide range of applications. One of the unique features of Roboto is its geometric and minimalistic design. It includes a variety of weights and styles, from Thin to Black, as well as an accompanying condensed version, making it suitable for various design and content needs.
For my poster, I wanted to pair Roboto with something equally fresh, bold, and vibrant. Around the same time, Indian pop-rock artist King was going viral for his music, and I had a concert photo of him that perfectly matched the vibe. He was the perfect embodiment of a “new age rockstar”—bold, vibrant, and ruling the digital space, just like Roboto does in modern design. Plus, who wouldn’t want to showcase a fusion of music and design? It’s the perfect blend of style, rhythm, and tech!
The final poster captures the synergy between Roboto’s clean, modern design and King’s bold, vibrant energy. The tagline “The New Age Rockstar” ties it all together, celebrating a typeface and an artist that both dominate the digital age. The result is a visually striking blend of typography and music that feels fresh, dynamic, and perfectly in tune with today’s digital culture.
